The conservation of our natural and cultural heritage is inherently linked to the economic well-being of local inhabitants. In RED we view tourism as a catalyst for creating sustainable economic opportunities in local communities. To achieve our mission, we use our expertise in sustainable tourism to strengthen inhabitants in economically marginalized communities, through training, technical accompaniment and mentoring to create sustainable, regenerative micro-enterprises and long-term stewards of natural resources.
Tourism for Conservation
RED partners with diverse organizations, academic and governmental institutions, and the local tourism industry to promote responsible tourism practices that ensure the conservation of our ecosystems and biodiversity. We develop best practices, create tools and strategies for sustainable tourism management, and promote tourism models that generate benefits for conservation. To date, our projects focus on species such as whale sharks and gray whales.
